Over the last week Stuart was able to catch up with Conor Ferguson and see the huge haul of medals Conor has won this year at the Commonwealth Youth Games and European Youth Olympics.
From January 2015 Stuart from Alpha Physio has been one part of a team working with Conor, one of Northern Ireland’s most successful swimmers. This year Conor who swims for Larne has scooped gold in the 100m backstroke as well as silver in the 50m and 200m in the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa. Conor also picked up 2 silver medals at the European Youth Olympics and most impressively is the third fastest 16 year old at backstroke in the world.
Conor who is a pupil of Belfast Royal Academy (ironically Stuart and Jeff are both ex BRA pupils) has goals of being the number one swimmer in the world and recognises that it is not going to be easy but is determined to get there. Any young athlete hoping to make an impact on the world stage will realise that having a good team around them they can trust is always of utmost importance. Conor’s team is headed by his father and mother, Peter and Patricia and exceptional local swimming coach Peter Hill. Physiotherapists, dieticians and strength and conditioning coaches are all cogs in the same machine. Alpha Physio has been fortunate to work with such a talented young athlete and hopes to help Conor continue to achieve his domination in the swimming world.
